I've tried them all,and again,I'm stating that this is by far the very best.As a photographer who takes photos of weddings,birthday parties and many other social events I find this printer is a great asset to my business. Clients love the fact that I can present their guest with a beautiful photo of themselves with their host before the event is even over.I've tried mobile printers that use rolled ink cartridges that take a long time to print a photo since the paper has to go in and out several times before the picture is finished. This printer,the Epson PM-400,prints out a magnificent photo in less than 30 seconds.It's a small unit that can be transported with great ease and the Wi-Fi works really well. I certainly would recommend this printer to anyone in need of a truly mobile printer.
I followed instructions and it appears I have done everything correctly. I chose the PM400 to replace my Olympus PM290. I hadn't used it in quite awhile and when I decided to bring it out of the closet again I was having issues cleaning the printer head. Fortunately it works now and comparing it with the new PM400 I am getting excellent results with the color but the new PM400 has new advantages, such as, wireless and being able to download photos from my computer. Love the compact printers from Olympus. I hope they keep these items in the production each year.

We needed a 10X magnifier to detect extremely faint horizontal banding caused by the movement of the printhead. Images were adequately sharp and free of jaggies. Black-and-white prints had a suitably wide dynamic range, with dense blacks and pure whites without color casts. It took 2.44 minutes to print a 4x6-inch photo, which is quite sluggish compared to other portable printers we've tested. The took 1.6 minutes to do the same job, and the cranked it out in 1.1 minutes.
Called Epson Tech Support, and received no help. They suggested I call Apple Care to see if there was a problem with my Apple Air Port router. Apple was extremely helpful, checked all my system, found no problem, and then actually helped me with windows. Deleting the print driver installed by Epson, and allowing windows to 'find and install' the printer solved the problem. Seems amazing that I had to have an Apple rep solve a Windows problem. The picture mate pm-400 is a wonderful printer, that prints 5 x 7 fast and has remarkable color. The only problem that I have found with this model is that none of the stores carry the ink for this product, which is a real disappointment. The only way to get the ink is to order it, so if you plan on getting this printer be sure to stock up on ink. Now the problem with that is that they say you should have ink that you are not using for a certain period of time, so if you bad more ink, it could go bad and if you don't buy extra ink you may run out when you need it. Not only does it print professional quality prints, it is very portable. It's almost like a miniature desktop printer. Also setup was a breeze. Also the main reason why I bought this printer was because it prints 5x7 photos,so your not limited to only 4x 6 prints.
That translates to impressively high quality for most images. However, I saw an obvious loss of shadow detail (details based on shading in dark areas) with one image, which largely destroyed the visual impact of the photo.
